Here is some follow up on placing the wire grids on the ground just after sowing seed. The plants have come up beautifully. Close by on the opposite side of the path I used chicken wire to cover the rows of onion seed. Something seems to be forcing it up, and there are large areas where no onion seed came up, germination is poor or something ate the onion seeds. I will plant them in seed trays next time.
